Matthew Colon, Esq.

Matt Colon grew up in Miami, FL after relocating from The Bronx, New York as a teenager. He received his B.A. at Florida International University in 2011 and received his J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law in 2014. While at Florida State, he externed with the City of Tallahassee focusing on municipal law; covering a wide array of issues including liability claims, zoning ordinance, policing, and eminent domain. He studied insurance law under a former Florida Supreme Court Justice and took part in Florida State’s Family Law Clinic, offering his services to members of the community most in need.

Matt spent over six years working for a large workers’ compensation defense firm, representing the most prominent insurance companies in Florida. Throughout that time, Matt gained valuable knowledge and insight into the inner workings of the insurance industry, workers’ compensation claims handling, and legal defense strategies.

Matt switched career paths and now represents injured workers in South Florida, making his expertise available to pursue justice and equity for his clients. Utilizing his background in insurance, he also handles property insurance claims, helping homeowners recover damages sustained to their property from weather-related events and other perils. An avid auto-enthusiast, Matt spends his free time off-roading in the swamps of the Florida Everglades and throughout Central Florida with his son.
